Today’s Jym Shorts article is brought to you by the guy next door—Pastor AJ.
In just 23 days, on Saturday, November 8th, LifePoint will have the joy of hosting a one-day worldview conference for both students and adults. It’s almost surreal to write that, because it marks the fulfillment of a five-year vision the Lord stirred in my heart.
Back in 2022, I had the opportunity to attend the Rooted Summit in Indiana with several of our high school students and a handful of parents. The teaching was powerful, but what moved me even more were the conversations that followed—students and parents wrestling together with truth, worldview, and what it means to follow Jesus in today’s culture. On the way home, I kept hearing the same thing from churches across Indiana: “We need more of this. We want another chance to grow together.”
In that moment, I couldn’t shake the thought: What if LifePoint could host something like this—not just for us, but as a blessing to churches all across Indianapolis and beyond? Our elders wholeheartedly agreed, and that vision began to grow legs.
One speaker from that Rooted Summit stood out to me: Brett Kunkle. Brett and his wife Erin founded Maven in 2018 with a heart for discipling the next generation. After a visit to LifePoint and a good conversation over lunch, it became clear—we shared the same heartbeat for intergenerational discipleship, where students and parents learn side-by-side, discussing things that matter to God. That shared vision gave birth to what will soon be the first Maven Conference Indiana.
So… Who Is Maven?
Maven is a ministry dedicated to training the next generation to follow Jesus with clarity, conviction, and courage. They are passionate about students—junior high, high school, and college-aged young people. But because students don't grow in isolation, Maven is equally committed to equipping the parents, grandparents, pastors, teachers, and leaders who disciple them.
Their heartbeat is simple:
To raise up a generation who knows the truth of Christ and passes it on to others.
The word “maven” means a trusted expert who passes along knowledge to others. In a world full of confusion, they want to develop young mavens—students who not only know what they believe but are able to live it out and share it with confidence. Through podcasts, articles, videos, online training, immersive experiences, and conferences, Maven comes alongside the church to teach truth in a way that is engaging, thoughtful, and deeply rooted in Scripture.
Let me tell you more about the speakers and sessions we’ll experience together at Maven Conference Indiana.
Brett Kunkle – Founder of Maven
Brett has spent more than 25 years working with students and training the church in apologetics and worldview. He has a passion for teaching truth in a way that is sharp, engaging, and accessible, especially for teenagers. Brett will challenge us to recognize the cultural moment we’re living in and equip us to stand firm without losing compassion or conviction.
Erin Kunkle – Co-Founder of Maven & Host of the Maven Parent Podcast
Erin speaks directly to the heart of parents and leaders, helping us see the daily rhythms of life as opportunities for discipleship. She has a unique way of cutting through the noise and calling families to simple, intentional faithfulness in the home.
Special Guest Voices
Additional breakout communicators will help us tackle real-life topics students are facing today—from identity and truth to technology, doubt, and cultural pressure. These aren’t lectures—they are conversations designed to spark dialogue between generations and send you home ready to keep talking around your dinner table, youth group, and small group gatherings.
Why You Should Be There
If you’ve ever wished for deeper conversations with your students…
If you’ve ever felt the tension of watching the next generation face cultural confusion…
If you’ve longed for clarity, courage, and community in this discipleship journey…
This one-day conference might be the most important investment you make this year.
Registration is open now—and I would love to see not just students but entire families, small groups, and ministry teams sitting together, learning together, and being equipped to live out the truth of Christ with boldness in a confused world.
Let’s Do This—Together
Church family, this isn’t just another event on the calendar. It’s a kingdom opportunity—a chance for us to stand shoulder to shoulder as generations, to pursue truth together, and to equip our students to follow Jesus with clear minds and courageous hearts.
My prayer is that parents and teenagers will walk into the building together, sit under biblical teaching together, and leave with conversations that carry on long after November 8th.
If you love students… if you care about the next generation… if you believe the gospel still transforms hearts and minds today…Then this conference is for you.
