Jym Shorts - June 12, 2025

It was twelve years ago that I asked Rebecca Cribbs to  meet me for lunch so I could talk with her about the possibility of her  becoming the LifePoint Preschool coordinator. She said, "You can  tell me, but I'm not interested." Thanks to her husband's encouragement,  she met with me, politely listened, and very soon after that, accepted the  position.

For the past 12 years, Rebecca has loved and served our  preschoolers and their families with excellence. She worked extremely  hard to find volunteers who would love, care for and teach our little ones  about Jesus. I wasn’t surprised that Rebecca excelled with this, but  what I wasn’t expecting was the deep friendship Rebecca and I built. As  we talked about strategies of teaching, how best to engage children and  parents, and other logistical things, we found ourselves also sharing the  exciting moments in our lives as well as our struggles. We became close  sisters in Christ.

God has now called our dear Rebecca to a new challenge. She  has accepted a job at UIndy to work in their accounting department. When  discussing the job change, Rebecca shared that she is looking forward to  being the light of Jesus in a worldly place like a university. I have no  doubt that she will be a blessing to all she interacts with.

A favorite memory of Rebecca’s is when storyteller Randy  Baer was leading a prayer and asked the preschoolers to repeat after him,  “Dear Heavenly Father.” Three-year-old Ryder Chastain, who is now a 9th  grader, apparently wanting to copy Mr. Baer exactly, said in his best deep  voice, “Dear Heavenly Father.” To everyone’s surprise, Ryder sounded a  lot like Mr. Baer. On a more serious note, Rebecca also said it was  always encouraging to see the growth of the children learning foundational key  points of their faith.

LifePoint will remain Rebecca’s church family, but you are  more likely now to see her interacting with adults and serving in other  ministries. Please take time to thank her for her 12-year commitment  to our young families.

So, what’s the plan for the preschool coordinator? I’m  thrilled to announce that God has provided Lauren Lenox to the children’s  ministry team as the preschool coordinator. Lauren and her husband Ben  have been attending LifePoint for the past 11 years. It was the first  church they visited after their honeymoon, and they never went anywhere else.  Since then, they have added 3 precious girls to their family, Lydia, Lucy and  Lana. Lauren graduated from Cedarville College in 2012, majoring in  multi-age Spanish education prek-12. Lauren is extremely energetic and  has a passion to help children get to know Jesus. It would be  encouraging to Lauren if you introduced yourself and made her feel  welcome.

Rebecca, you have touched so many lives through your  leadership in the preschool department. As a church family, we thank you  for your incredible dedication, love and faith you have poured into the  children, families and volunteers. God be with you, dear friend, as you  serve Him in this new chapter in your life.
