And I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?” Then I said, “Here I am! Send me.” - Isaiah 6:8
I have two brief things I want to share with you this week. First, our annual Missions Emphasis will kick off on September 15 this year. We will conclude our eight-months in Colossians on September 8 and move directly into four-weeks of missions. The theme for our emphasis this year is “Send Me!” Based on the passage from the prophet Isaiah above.
We will focus this year on going into missions. On September 15, Justin Williams, a missionary we have supported in Uganda for many years, along with his wife Debbie and their children, will share what a call to missions “looks like.” On September 22 Pastor Tony will share with us the basics concerning evangelism and gospel witness. I will share on September 29 from the passage in Isaiah that immediately follows the text above, from Isaiah 6:9-13, a passage that reminds us that the work of missions is the Lord’s work, and sometimes the goal in missions is not seeing hundreds of people come to Jesus but simply to obey the word of the Lord. We will conclude our Missions Emphasis 2024 on October 6 with our annual Faith Promise Sunday, when I will ask you to consider your own role in missions through our local church family. In the midst of this, we are inviting you to consider attending a four-hour missions mini-conference that we will host alongside a longtime missions partner—One Mission Society, to be held on Saturday, September 28th from 1-5pm. Please keep these dates in mind as you plan out your September/early October.
Second, I want to invite you to our Worship and Family night to be held this coming Sunday at 6 p.m. here in the Worship Center. Pastor David and the choir will lead us as we worship together. We will follow our time with a Family Meeting in which the church leaders will share with you what is taking place in the life of the church and afford you an opportunity to ask any questions you may have. If you would like to submit a question prior to Sunday evening, you may do so here. Or feel free to email the question directly to me or any of our other pastors/elders. We will conclude with a time of refreshments and fellowship.
I am looking forward to cooler days ahead as we slide out of summer and into early fall. And, as always, I look forward to doing so while serving our church family to the very best of my ability. It is a joy to share in ministry with all of you, LifePoint friends!
Grace and peace,
Pastor Jym
