Prior to that, he and his family served as missionaries in Spain and Costa Rica. Jym’s ministry experience also includes pastoring a church in southern Indiana while attending seminary at The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky. Jym comes from an eclectic background, having been raised the youngest child in a family of fourteen children to Roman Catholic parents in central Illinois. Prior to his work in full-time ministry, he earned Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in psychology from Eastern Illinois University, and served in law enforcement and higher education.
Jym has been married to his wife, Dedra, for 22 years. They have two daughters, Hannah and Jordan. In his spare time, Jym enjoys outdoor activities, exercising through sports, and reading; primarily biographies, history, and writings from the reformation period of church history.
